Future scholars call for help in Arlington

The seventh annual Scholar’s Cup of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce will take place at Upton Hill Regional Park on September 19 from 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for those aged 16 and up, $15 for those aged 6 to 15, or $10 for the barbecue dinner only. All proceeds go towards the Chamber’s annual scholarship fund.

Chamber members are encouraged to bring their children to take part in this fun day of mini-golf. It will also be an excellent opportunity for members to network with their fellow business leaders. A lot of business is done on the golf course and this should be no different. Those who do plan to attend the Scholar’s Cup should make sure to arrange for business card printing in advance from Arlington printing companies. Everyone will want to make sure they have enough cards to give to those they meet and business cards can easily be tucked away in a golf bag for easy distribution.

Social events are not the same as networking events, lacking the hard sell and serious discussion. Business will most likely be discussed in a casual manner but the majority of networking will just be the exchange of business cards and possibly a 30-60 second blurb about what type of business each person runs. This event should draw out chamber members who might not attend many networking events and give them a chance to increase their referral networks. The event will also raise much needed funds to ensure that local students can continue their education and become the next business leaders of tomorrow.
