Fair fills Arlington air with fun

The 2012 Arlington County Fair will take place at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center from August 8 to 12. Admission is free but there will be a cost for carnival rides, with a shuttle service provided to the ground from various spots in Arlington. This is a very popular event and last year’s attendance has been estimated at 47,000.

The theme of this year’s Fair is ‘live green, learn green’ and several competitive exhibits will focus on the environment and on sustainability. The fair will feature Kids Court, which includes bounce houses, pony rides and other activities, live animal exhibits, musical guests, carnival rides, food concessions, and vendors. The range of vendors will consist of local artists and crafters, along with commercial and community organizations. Items the vendors will be selling will vary from works of art to jewelry to clothing.

Sponsorships are available for $2,000 and up, with all sponsors receiving a mention in the program booklet and on various banners and posters throughout the fair. No doubt Arlington printing companies will be providing the organizers of the fair with the necessary items. Any banners created will most likely have the names of sponsor companies and their logos emblazoned on them.

The Arlington County Fair is a great way to celebrate the last few weeks of summer vacation with the children. There will be lots of activities that will please everyone in the family. This is the 35th year in which the fair has been held and it seems to become more popular every year.
