Business pros to get smartphone sensible

October 31, 2012 by

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is presenting the forum ‘Understanding Today’s Technology: Get Smart with your Smartphone’ next month. Tickets are free for chamber members and $25 for non-members.

This will be a ‘lunch and learn’ forum moderated by Mark Dickerson of LEROS Technologies. The topic of conversation will be how business professionals can make their smartphones work for them and others.

Smartphones are so much more than just phones and can be used to make business easier to conduct, as well as helping to promote that business. For example, the use of a QR code on digital business cards gives people who receive them the opportunity to scan the cards with their smartphone and download more information about the businessperson, such as a resume or portfolio.

There will also be discussions about which apps can be downloaded to help with business productivity and those that help to make some of the most tedious tasks easier and less time-consuming. Those who attend should come away with a better understanding of what is available and what technology can do for them.

This will also be an excellent networking opportunity for arlington business experts. Those attending will probably want to arrange for business card printing in advance of attending, whether the cards include a QR code or not. There will also be the chance to deliver that 30 – 60 second elevator speech while exchanging cards with business peers.

The forum will be held on November 13 from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm. For more information, call 703-525-2400.
