Arlington to celebrate the Marine Corps Marathon this October

September 26, 2013 by

The 38th annual Marine Corps Marathon is happening in about a month’s time, and will start at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and end at the Marine Corps War Memorial.

There will be many events being held on the day of the marathon and in the days before it. Arlington will be holding a Kids Festival, which will take place at various locations along the marathon route.

The Kids Festival will feature arts and crafts from the National Children’s Museum, bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals, and various other activities. It is a presentation of the Crystal City Business Improvement District.

Arlington printing companies will likely help get the word out about the Kids Festival by supplying marketing materials to the organizers. It will take place between 18th Street and Crystal Drive on October 27 from 9:30 pm – 2:00 pm, and is free to attend. Contact Sophie Frank at 703-859-0722 for more information.

Before the day of the marathon (October 27) there will be several related events going on in the Washington area. The DC Armory Health and Fitness Expo will take place from October 24-26, at which marathon racers can pick up their race packets. A First Timers Pep Rally will also take place the Hyatt Regency Washington on October 25 and a Runners Brunch, which is a 5K warm up run, is being held on October 26.

Registration fees for the Marine Corps Marathon are $48 per person. Call 703-784-2225 to learn more about the event.
