Festival to draw international artists to Alexandria

August 5, 2013 by

The 11th annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival is set to take place over two days next month.

In the past, the event has attracted people from all over the U.S. and the rest of the world, and more than 200 artists are expected to get involved this year.

Those taking part will be selling and displaying their work for attendees to enjoy; many will also be giving demonstrations on various techniques and crafts.

The festival’s Alexandria Art Experience will give members of the public the chance to take part in some real hands-on activities. There will also be live musical entertainment and a competition to win a large Kathleen Green print.

Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to get involved in the Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser, which will be sponsored by The Art League and Torpedo Factory Art Center. This will take place at Market Square where the sweet-toothed revellers will be able to purchase a handmade bowl for $15 before having it filled with ice cream. Proceeds will go to support The Art League’s Ceramics program.

No doubt organizers have been working with Alexandria printing companies to design and produce marketing products to spread the word about the fair. This could include a range of eye-catching posters, flyers, and banners.

The Alexandria King Street Art Festival will take place between Washington Street and the Waterfront from September 7-8. Admission is free for all ages. For more information, call 703-746-3301.
