Holiday Light Express on track for tonight

The Holiday Light Express will be leaving the station fully adorned with Christmas lights to kick off the weekend, offering an event for the entire family to enjoy as they take a break from shopping. The Wilmington and Western Railroad may have used poster printing and flyer printing to spread the word about this trip to people in this community and neighboring ones.

Families are invited to come out and taken a leisurely evening ride upon the heated 1929 Doodlebug, from Pennsylvania Railroad. The journey takes place aboard a railcar decked with thousands of twinkling Christmas lights. The ride usually lasts about 45 minutes and various departure times are available.

While riding on the rails, guests should be sure to observe the buildings along the tracks, adorned with blazing Christmas lights for their enjoyment. Many of the homeowners do this each year for the passengers take in. After the ride, participants can take the children out to a nearby café and enjoy some hot cocoa.

Tickets cost $11.50 for adults, $10.50 for seniors over 60, $9.50 for children 2 to 12, and children under two can ride free. The Holiday Lights Express will be leaving the station this evening, December 20, at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm from the Wilmington and Western Railway Station located at 2201 Newport Gap Pike in Wilmington, Delaware.
