Astoria green thumbs invited help out local gardens

Anyone in Astoria who wishes to sharpen their horticultural skills, or those who are just looking for an excuse to enjoy spending time in the fresh air, may wish to mark their calendars now for Queens Botanical Gardens’ volunteer days.

The event will be hosted by the facility’s horticultural staff, who will be on hand to share expert gardening tips and techniques, and the people who attend will have a chance to engage in hands-on activities working with the plants.

There will be an assortment of projects to work on, and the whole day is planned so that it will allow plenty of time for socializing and fun along with the gardening. An area printer can use digital copying to produce items such as volunteer handbooks for an organization such as this.

Anyone who is interested in lending a helping hand has been asked to register ahead of time, as this will assist in organizing the event. It is open to volunteers who are age 16 and older and, as there is plenty of free parking available for the volunteers and the site is also accessible through public transportation, the attendees can choose the method of getting to the gardens that best suits them.

This day of lending a helping hand at the Queen’s Botanical Garden has been planned for June 1. Anyone who requires further information has been asked to visit the We Heart Astoria website.
