The Farmers’ Market will soon be opening in North Andover, thanks to a generous donation by the Lowell Five Bank. Residents of Andover will certainly want to take advantage of the market for their summer shopping.

A check in the amount of $15,000 was presented to the Market at the bank’s branch on Chickering Road. Linda Firth, Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President, said that the bank is interested in supporting local businesses and helping to bring new ones into the community.

Chairman of the Selectmen, Phil DeCologero, said that the funds will be used for promotion, advertising, and enhancing the experience at the market. DeCologero is one of the organizers of the market, which could use such items as promotional pens to help get the word out with more information about vendors, dates, and hours of operation.

This will be the second year for the market, which is held on the plaza at the intersections of First and Main Streets. Tina Messina, one of the owners of the plaza, said that having the market has helped to bring more people to downtown North Andover and has even made it a social event of the week for the community.

The market will be open from June 17 through October 7 every Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
