Anchorage Concert Association announces schedule

May 3, 2017 by

The Anchorage Concert Association (ACA) recently announced its 2017-2018 season, and the schedule features many familiar faces, since over a third of the performers have come to Anchorage in preceding seasons.

The ACA is also planning to continue its “secret shows”, which are by-invitation events held throughout the city with a day’s notice. It is not until the show is announced that patrons learn the location and performer. The shows often have a food truck available and are very informal, offering a way for people to get together and enjoy good music.

Among the performers returning are Pink Martini, The Capitol Steps, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo – a South African group that has won multiple Grammys. New to the city are The Quebe Sisters, the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Grammy winners La Santa Cecilia.

The upcoming shows in the Broadway in Anchorage series are ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella’, and ‘Cabaret’. Also on the way is ‘Menopause: The Musical’, though it’s not part of this series. Nonmusical presentations include the ‘One Man Star Wars Trilogy’ by Charles Ross – a Canadian actor who has condensed the three films into one evening’s entertainment. Complete information is available at the ACA website.

The season gets underway September 14, with rocker Melissa Etheridge.

Organizations like this can work with a poster printing company, which can create special decorative posters for each show.
