Convention center completes expansion

The Anaheim Convention Center’s new wing is now set to open.

One feature added, during the $190m project approved in 2014, was a 10,000-foot balcony from which tourists will be able to watch Disney fireworks.

The new wing will open on Tuesday, September 26, but several convention and meetings have been booked in the building already. There are 75 groups scheduled for meetings and conventions in the health and medical fields, which is a growing category for Anaheim.

The addition of the new wing has attracted a more diverse group of businesses, which could prove lucrative to Anaheim. Some of the diverse associations that have booked conventions are The Oncology Nursing Society, International Society for Technology in Education, and Society for Science and the Public.

This new wing has added on 200,000 square feet, making this the largest convention center on West Coast. Along with the balcony, it will give the Anaheim Convention Center more meeting rooms for groups and a large lobby.

In 2018, two organization plan to have their conventions side by side at the convention center: the Swim Collective and Active Collection. Their events are set for January 11 & 12 and August 1 & 2. The shows feature designer swimwear and leisurewear.
