Allentown all set for festive market

The ChristKindlMarkt in Bethlehem, about 10 miles from Allentown is scheduled to open on this month.

The event is an indoor crafts and art market with food similar to that at festivals found in Germany during the holiday season.

Opening on November 17, it features a Christmas tree shop that sells trees of varying size to customers. There are handcrafted ornaments, toys, wreaths, glass art, jewelry, pottery, leather goods, and gourmet foods. Over 100 vendors are due to participate.

Outside, the public can enjoy a large decorated Christmas tree, ice sculptures, and a visit with St. Nick for children.

Inside the market, there are several food vendors that serve a variety of delicacy. Guests can enjoy soup, potato pancakes, chicken paprikish, goulash, sauerbraten, funnel cake, hamburgers, cheese steak, knockwurst, hotdogs potato salad, fries, and desserts.

Two restaurants are open to dine at in the market located in the SteelStacks. They are Ike and Mike Bistro (open for dinner and a show) and Musikfest Café (with small tables open for dinner).

An Allentown printing company can assist local businesses and groups with holiday promotions and ad specialties for events like the ChristKindlMarkt, which runs from Thursday to Sunday until December 23, staying open as late as 8:00 pm on some nights. There is plenty of public parking located near the market at the SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way.
