Malden school receives generous donation

January 3, 2019 by

Gerard and Regina Doherty, from the class of 1946, recently presented Malden Catholic High School with an unrestricted gift of $2 million. This is the largest gift Gerard has made to the school, bringing his total donations to $4m in support of its students.

In making the announcement to the community, Acting Headmaster Brother Thomas J. Puccio, said the Dohertys demonstrate the compassion, humility, zeal, and simplicity that are important values for the students at the school. He added that the school is grateful for their generosity over the past 50 years, as it has made a great difference in the lives of the students at the school.

Gerard received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Malden Catholic in 2008 and has been a Chairman of the Board of the school. As a native of Charlestown, he has also given scholarships to over 75 boys from the town to further their education. A senior at the school, Rory Carrier, commented that Gerard has been “another grandfather to him” and served as a mentor to him throughout his four years at the school.

Gerard’s wife, Regina, has also been a supporter and friend of Malden Catholic. She received a special award this year for her love and support of those in need.

Poster printing can be used to inform the community of such donations and their impact.
