Raleigh consulting firm acquired by Dean Dorton

Dean Dorton Allen Ford, usually referred to simply as Dean Dorton, recently announced it is in the process of acquiring Massey Consulting, a full-service Raleigh consulting firm. The transaction will take effect January 1, 2019.

David Bundy, Dean Dorton’s president and CEO, said that his firm plans to absorb Massey, a smaller firm that employs ten to fifteen people. Philip Massey, who is the president of Massey Consulting, will take over as Dean Dorton’s software division head.

Dean Dorton provides a wide range of services including business management, taxes, audition, and technology and consulting solutions. It recently added cybersecurity and wealth management to its offerings.

Bundy said that the merger will enable the company to expand its teams, which in turn will enable it to serve more clients in a larger geographical area, and in fact, to begin expansion into a nationally-known organization. When consolidations such as this take place, the resulting organization has an opportunity to create new letterheads that reflect the changes and create a good impression of the new company.

He added that both Dean Dorton and Massey had been working with Sage Intacct, a cloud accounting software company, and began discussing the merger about a year ago. Bundy added that since Dean Dorton wanted to look at markets in new geographical areas, merging with a Raleigh company that was already established made sense.
