Aquarium to get anniversary celebrations underway

The Newport Aquarium, about seven miles from Erlanger, will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2019 and a special exhibit begins in January – Jim Henson’s Splash and Bubbles Reeftown Adventure.

To celebrate the anniversary, there will be new exhibits, special events, and opportunities to play and learn in the different exhibits at the Newport Aquarium. Eric Rose, Newport Aquarium executive director, says he wants kids to learn about animals and conservation in the ocean through this program.

In Reeftown Adventure, kids will learn about ocean conservation through activities. They will learn about different fish and marine life in the ocean. With games and activities, they can become a Reeftown Ranger. Erlanger has print shops with a graphic design staff that designs products for businesses like this.

In the Kelp Forest, parents and children will be able to color a fish that shows their unique personality. With technology, they can see them swim with other characters from Splash and Bubble.

Splash and Bubble is an animated kids PBS television series. Passes bought before the end of the year (December 31) can be used for this exhibit next year.

The Newport Aquarium is located at One Aquarium Way in Newport. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the Sharkey Café, which serves burgers, wraps, pizza, chili, fries, coffee, sweets, and soft drinks
