Gaston County public schools to hold job fair

A job fair for prospective public school teachers interested in teaching in Gaston County will be held later week at Catawba Heights Baptist Church in Belmont. Those from Gastonia will not want to miss this event.

Gaston County is looking to recruit teachers and fill vacancies for the 2019-2020 school year. The elementary, middle, and high schools need to fill over 30 teaching positions.

Attendees at the job fair will be able to meet with school administrators and principals, learn about teaching in the Gaston County public schools, fill out application materials, and learn more about benefits, salary, and licensure. Preliminary interviews will also be conducted.

The salary paid to teachers in the district is in accordance with the guidelines of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and General Assembly.

The job fair is geared for those who will be soon be graduating from college and are looking for their first teaching positions. Others who are encouraged to attend are those who teach at charter schools, private schools, in other school districts, as well as those who are thinking of changing their careers.

The job fair will run from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm this Friday, December 14. Business card printing might be used for those who find teaching positions as a result of such job fairs.
