The memory of Dr. Martin Luther King will be celebrated in events coming in mid-January. The events will be presented by the Coral Springs MLK Jr. Committee.

The first will be the second annual MLK Award Reception: Student Art & literary Exhibits. Later that evening, a one-hour musical production of ‘Dr. King Had a Dream so That My Dreams Could Come True’ will be shown.

This year’s keynote speaker at the MLK Business Luncheon will be President and CEO of the National Urban League, Marc H. Morial.

Martin Luther King Leadership and Diversity Day will be an event for local students in middle and high school. Students will meet at the monument and put in some service hours. Participants will receive T-shirts touting the event’s graphic design, as well as snacks, lunch, live entertainment, and interactive activities. Students must register through their schools.

The MLK Award Reception: Student Art & Literary Exhibits will be at the Museum of Art, 2855 Coral Springs Drive from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm, on Friday, January 17. The musical/drama will start at 7:00 pm.

The second annual MLK Monument award will be given during the MLK Business Luncheon, Monday, January 18 starting at 11:30 am at the Coral Springs Marriott at Heron Bay, 11775 Heron Bay Boulevard.

Diversity Day will be January 21 from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm at N.W. Regional Library, 2151 N. University Drive.
