Trolley tour to explore historic cottages of Lake Worth

December 9, 2018 by

People have been living in Lake Worth for many years, and a tour has been organized that will showcase a selection of its cottages that were constructed during the early days of the community.

The day may be of interest to amateur historians and the general public alike, and will offer a sneak peek into the beginning of the city they call home. Those who participate in the 2019 Inside the Cottages Tour will be riding in style, since two trolleys have been booked to shuttle the passengers to the stops that have been included in the event, and it will be held rain or shine.

Many of the properties that will be viewed will have been built in the art deco style that was popular in the 1920s. The participants will also have an opportunity to view the interior of the properties, and many will boast floors, walls, and design elements crafted from locally sourced materials such as pine and sea grape leaves. When the tour reaches The Beach Club, the riders will be welcome to hop off and enjoy a bite to eat, and while they relax over their meal, they can discuss the architecture they have seen.

This type of event can help to both build a sense of community spirit and an appreciation for its history. Maps that show each of the historic properties and provide some details about them can be produced for this type of function by local stationery printers.

The trolley tour will be departing from The Beach Club Lake Worth at 11:00 am on January 27.
