Austin celebrates season with winter wonderland

To start the holiday season in the Austin area, Winter Wonderland at the Circuit returns again for 2018.

A relatively new program in Austin, Winter Wonderland at the Circuit started last year at 9201 Circuit of the Americas Boulevard. This year’s program features a few updates and improvements compared to last year.

Cities that host special programs for the holidays can use poster printing to let locals know what is in store.

A highlight of the program last year was the ice skating rink. Although the previous year’s rink contained synthetic ice, this year’s rink has the real deal. It is located inside the pit at the Austin360 Amphitheater.

Also new for the 2018 holiday season is a Chinese Lantern Festival. The lanterns include a large dragon, as well as several cute pandas. Each lantern was created by hand using traditional techniques. Along with this display, there is also a section where people can learn about the Chinese zodiac.

Some popular features of last year’s Winter Wonderland are returning this year. Last year, a group of “singing trees” performed classic holiday tunes. The have returned to entertain visitors once again.

The Winter Wonderland is open on weekends until December 9, then continuously from December 13 to December 30. The Wonderland is open from 6:00 until 10:00 pm Sundays through Thursdays, and until 11:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission for adults and children over age six is $16. Children age five and under are free.
