Annual holiday parade returns to Parker

Parker will be celebrating its holiday tradition once again this year with its Christmas Carriage all-equestrian parade along Mainstreet in the downtown area.

The parade consists of wagons, carriages, stagecoaches, and surreys led by horses, with participants from across the state. They will all be decorated for the holidays. Marching bands will also be a part of the parade and there will be no motorized vehicles or walkers involved.

This year’s theme is ‘Magic on Mainstreet’, with the goal of providing a small town and local feeling. The streets are certain to be lined with children awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. The tradition of judging entries will return at begin at 11:15 am when the parade lines up. The judging categories for this year include Celebrity Judge’s Favorite, Best Themed Driven Entry, and Best Themed Mounted Entry

Businesses are encouraged to take part in the parade and may display advertising for their business on their group of horses or hired carriage. Such advertising many be in form of banner printing or use other types of printing services.

The event will also include ice sculpting, pony rides and a petting zoo, a holiday farmers’ market, and pictures and visiting time with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The parade will be held beginning at noon this Saturday, December 8 in downtown Parker.
