Flagstaff celebrates holidays with movie, concert, and ugly sweaters

The holidays in Flagstaff can be celebrated in many ways this year, with a packed Christmas program ahead at the Orpheum Theater.

The first Festivus for the Restivus Ugly Sweater Party will come at 8:00 pm on December 14. Cash prizes will be awarded the ugliest sweaters and winners will want to take pictures for later poster printing. Live music will keep the event in high gear.

On December 15 at 10:00 am, the downtown Business Alliance will be presenting The Polar Express as part of its Winter Movie Series. It tells the story of a young boy who boards a magic train and goes on a Christmas adventure to the North Pole. The movie will be free.

The theater will become a comedy club that evening at 8:00 pm, as comedians from Vegas, LA and Arizona take complaining about Christmas to new heights in the Anger Management Stand Up Comedy Show. Guests can receive $3 off admission when they bring new unwrapped toys for charity.

Lastly, on December 16 at 3:00 pm, the Flagstaff Community Band will give a concert of holiday favorites following the screening of the animated version of Dr. Seuss’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’. There is no fee, but admission will instead be granted through the donation of two non-perishable food items for the Family Food Center.
