Danbury area rejoices with Christmas concerts

Many Danbury families will be attending local music and dance performances in mid-December as part of their Christmas traditions.

To start off, the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance will present three performances of Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet The Nutcracker. Once again the young Clara will find her young prince, watch the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Waltz of the Flowers, and her nutcracker prince will fight the Rat King with the help of his wooden soldiers.

The show will take the stage December 14 at 6:00 pm, December 15 at 2:00 and 6:00 pm, and 16th at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm at the Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge, Ridgefield.

The Ridgefield Chorale’s Annual Holiday Pops Concert will be presented on the evening after the final ballet matinee, on December 16 at 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm. Proceeds will go to the local Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield, and it takes place at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Events put on to raise funds are often promoted locally through poster printing, with lampposts and billboards often used to place displays.

A few nights later on December 19, the Glenn Miller Orchestra will be presenting – In the Christmas Mood. The program will include several seasonal classics, as well as Glenn Miller staples like ‘In the Mood’. The performance starts at 7:00 pm.
