Tustin residents invited to give-a-thon event

The CulinaryLab encourages families to take part in their afternoon of fun family activities while contributing to a worthwhile community cause.

Individuals, couples and families are welcome to join CulinaryLab for some cookie decorating, to watch the student hot chocolate competition, and to help assemble care packages. The food donations will all go to support the efforts by the OC Rescue Mission.

The OC Rescue Mission helps those in the community in need to have food, receive treatment, and receive other aid as needed. The organization began its efforts in 1963 and has strived to treat every client with respect and dignity. Specialized programs enable it to offer care and guidance to people in a variety of harrowing circumstances.

Those interested in helping to collect food prior to the event can complete some poster printing with a list of the foods needed for care packages. The organizers hope to receive a variety of items during the event. Nonperishable items like canned foods and boxed or bagged items are needed. Especially important are foods with good nutritional content like pasta, canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats, and peanut butter.

The CulinaryLab’s Holiday Give-a-thon is December 9 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the CulinaryLab Cooking School at 17231 17th Street B in Tustin. There is no fee to attend. RSVP on the CulinaryLab website.
