Developers and dignitaries recently broke ground on a new family resort and indoor water park – the Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca.

The site is located between Highway 99 and Interstate 5 next to the Bog League Dreams Sports Park and Costco in the Stadium Center shopping complex. It will be the 19th of such Great Wolf Resorts, and the second one in California.

There will be a six-story hotel with 500 guest suites and rooms, and an indoor water park spanning 95,000 square feet with pools, slides, and cabanas. There will be many activities for kids such as story time, and arts and crafts. The indoor water park is geared towards families with children under the age of 12 although there are some rides for adults and teens.

There will be a Family Entertainment Center behind the hotel to which the general public will have access, meaning those from nearby Stockton may want to take advantage of its recreational activities. There will be restaurants and a play area with a bowling center, a video arcade, miniature golf, and rock climbing.

Vice president of domestic development for Great Wolf Resorts, Steve Jacobsen, commented that it will be one of the best lodges the company has built.
