Norfolk wrapped up in Dickensian enchantment

Dickens Christmas Towne in Norfolk is now in place, featuring many exciting holiday activities for families.

The celebration features train rides, tea parties, entertainment, carolers, puppet shows, crafts, shopping, and food.

This year, Christmas Towne is celebrating the 175th anniversary of the book ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens, and every child will receive a copy of the festive classic. The Art of Christmas is an exhibit of the illustrations in the book, created by P.J. Lynch.

The Pickwick Puppet Theater will perform holiday shows featuring a host of puppet characters representing characters in Dickens novels. Norfolk has printing services that can design holiday promotional products for events like this.

Magicians, jugglers, musicians, and carolers entertaining daily in this Victorian Christmas town. A new shop will open called Wax Works where customers can make their own wax creations. Visitors can enjoy face painting, ice cream, chocolate, and balloon animals.

There will be two weekends of tea parties, starting with ‘A Mad Tea Party’ held on December 15 at 10:00 am and December 16 at 11:00 am. ‘Tea in the Neverland’ takes place on December 22 at 10:00 am and December 23 at 11:00 am.

Dicken Christmas Towne started last weekend, and will run over six weekends in total. Located at 1 Waterside Drive, two-hour free metered parking is available on Saturday and all day on Sunday in downtown Norfolk.
