Melville residents help nonprofit through bowling

Brett’s Bicycle Recycle invites Melville families to join in an afternoon of fun to help the growing nonprofit.

The Bicycle Recycle is a nonprofit organization begun by the siblings of Brett Rainey. Following the loss of their brother, a fan of anything with wheels, the duo formed the group in his memory. The nonprofit collects, repairs, and returns bicycles to families in need in the community. Over 191 families have already received a bicycle from the organization since it began in 2017.

Families, individuals, and businesses that would like to contribute can make monetary donations or help in various other ways. The nonprofit needs help with bicycle repairs, people to retrieve donated bicycles, and individuals that want to volunteer to assist with events. Organizations that would like to contribute through flyer printing for events or by advertising for volunteer bicycle mechanics for the group can contact them through their website for information.

The fundraising event includes 1.5 hours of bowling, rental shoes, and unlimited soda and pizza for all children. All children also get a 14-credit arcade card worth $7. The event will include a chance for all ticket holders to win one of many raffle prizes.

Tickets for the event are $50 each for adults and $25 for children aged 14 and under. The event will take place at Bowlmor Long Island at 895 Walt Whitman Road in Melville. The event is December 1 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Visit Eventbrite for ticket purchases. All sales end on November 30.
