Huntington schedules Holiday Parade

Huntington has organized a number of activities to welcome the holiday season, starting with a whole day of fun, including the Huntington Holiday Parade.

This year’s theme is ‘Winter Wonderland’, and the day is packed with activities. It begins with Small Business Saturday, continues with Long Island’s Largest Electric Light Parade, and winds up with Santa arriving to help light the tree. There’s also a gingerbread house competition, making it the fourth time this event has taken place.

Gingerbread bakers over the age of 12 are welcome to enter the Gingerbread House Competition. People will be able to vote for their favorites when the houses are on display in The Paramount’s windows. After the event, the finalists’ creations will be displayed during December and January in the Town Hall’s lobby.

The parade is expected to draw as many as 10,000 spectators. The route starts at the Big H Shopping Center, goes north to Main Street, then turns west on Main Street to end at West Neck Road. Organizers of events like this can work with a poster printing company to create signs to help people find their way.

There will be competitions in the parade for floats that best follow the parade theme of ‘Winter Wonderland’. The competition is expected to be fierce since the winner gets to name next year’s Santa.

The fun is set for November 24, with the parade starting at 5:30 pm.
