The Solicitor’s Award for 2018 for excellence in law enforcement in Spartanburg County was recently presented to Chris Taylor of the Spartanburg Police Department.

Taylor received the award during the annual law enforcement appreciation dinner and it was given to him by Solicitor Barry Barnette. Nominations for the award and deciding on the winner was made by a committee of police officers from the state, county, and city agencies. Colby Grigg of the State Highway Patrol and Brent Brown of the Sheriff’s Office in Spartanburg County were among the finalists for the award.

Taylor has played a significant role in several high-profile investigations in both the city of Spartanburg and Spartanburg County. Barnette commented that Taylor is tenacious in his investigations and works hard to build strong criminal cases.

Back in 1984, Taylor started his career in law enforcement at the jail in Spartanburg County. Two years later, he became an officer in the Spartanburg Police Department. At the police department, he has been a patrol officer, a liaison with the municipal court, property crime investigator, and supervisor.

At the dinner, Suzy Cole, Executive Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center, was also presented with the Bill Barnet Service Above Self Award for her support of abused children.

Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays in the community so that people learn more about such awards and achievements.
