New shop for coffee and sweets opens in Concord

The Percantile & Creamery, a shop that sells ice cream, desserts, coffee, and wine, recently opened in the Concord Mills mall.

The store is 2,300 square feet in area and is located near the AMC Concord Mills movie theater and Dave & Buster’s.

Sean Colas, owner of the store, said he is hoping that it will be able to fill a niche in the market with its many offerings, and its theme from the 1920s. The theme was selected as that era as the owners wanted to encapsulate the elegant and carefree zeitgeist of that time.

The interior design of the shop includes a mural of a flapper on the wall, a Ford Model T, and additional antiques including a scale dating back 100 years and a typewriter from the same era. Colas plans to have stationery and stamps alongside the typewriter, so customers can write letters to friends in the old-style fashion. Stationery printers might be used so that items used for such opportunities also reflect the style and flair of the era.

The focus of the menu is coffee made from locally roasted coffee beans. There are craft lattes and espresso-based drinks. The ice-cream is Maine’s famous Gifford brand, with flavors such as Southern peach, cherry blossom, and old-fashioned vanilla. There are also milkshakes, soda floats, and ice-cream sandwiches made with homemade cookies or brownies.
