Everyone’s favorite ogre coming to Farmington Hills

November 11, 2018 by

A green ogre named Shrek was first introduced to the world in the 2001 DreamWorks Animation film of the same name, and will soon be found on stage in Farmington Hills.

Over 150 young performers from the local area will be part of the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre’s production of ‘Shrek the Musical’, to be presented at Farmington Hills’ Costick Center.

Fans of the movie will know the characters and story already, which follows the adventures of Shrek, an ogre, as he meets his true love, Fiona, and has a series of adventures in the company of his wisecracking sidekick, a donkey named Donkey. A cookie, a villain with a short temper, and a mashup of characters from other fairy tales all come together to create a memorable show. Companies putting on productions like this can work with a poster printing company to create advertising for the event.

One cast member, twelve-year-old Sylvie Morton, said she loved being part of the cast while Mollie Morton, Sylvie’s mother, said her daughter loved both the music and the moral of the show, which is that being different is not a bad thing.

The dates and times of the performances are 7:00 pm on November 15 and 16, and 1:00 pm and 6:00 on November 17 and 18. Tickets are $12 at the door, or $10 if purchased in advance, either online or by phone at 248-473-1848.
