Coral Springs is gearing up for the holiday season starting early in December.

Coral Springs Downtown in December will kick off the holiday season as families are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and appetizers to City Hall for an evening of movies, food trucks, and train rides around City Hall. There will be activities for the kids and free cookies and milk. This year’s movie will be ‘Polar Express’.

The city’s Holiday Express Parade will march along Sample Road later in the month. The annual event will feature the usual bands, marching units, and floats based around this year’s theme of ‘Holiday Express’.

Participating units will be focusing on airplanes, flight, trucks, trains, cars and speed movement such as moving light displays. Santa will come at the end of the procession.

Parade businesses and organizations are getting their brochure printing done so they can pass information to the spectators. Other units are getting banner printing done to introduce themselves to the crowds.

Awards will be handed out at the end of the parade. First prize will be the Mayor’s Cup, second prize will be the Vice Mayor’s Cup, and the third prize will be the Commissioner’s Cup.

Downtown in December will be December 1 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at City Hall, 9500 West Sample Road, in Downtown Coral Springs.

The Holiday Express Parade is scheduled for December 12 starting at 7:00 pm at 2501 Coral Springs Drive.
