Conroe celebrates Christmas season

November 2, 2018 by

Conroe Christmas Celebration is coming soon, and thousands of people are expected to gather for the tree lighting, movie, festival, and parade.

The Giant Tree Lighting will start things off. The area will be ablaze with light displays and flooded with holiday music sung by local school choirs. Free carriage rides and hot chocolate will be available, and holiday characters will be meandering through downtown Conroe.

Conroe Christmas Movie in the Park will take place the following Friday. This year it will be the 2003 classic ‘Elf’.

Conroe Christmas Celebration will have two real snow hills, a petting zoo, inflatables, and pony, train, and camel rides. Santa will be ready for pictures. Parents will still have time to get the pictures to local print shops for 2018 holiday cards.

During that afternoon the Children’s Christmas Parade presented by the Conroe Friendly City Kiwanis will take to the streets in Downtown Conroe. Commercial, nonprofit, political and school groups will have floats, marching bands, cars, and walking units. Santa, of course, will be bringing up the end of the procession.

The Tree Lighting ceremony begins at 6:30 pm at Heritage Palace, 500 Metcalf Street on November 27, Christmas Movie in the Park will be December 7 starting at 6:00 pm, and the Conroe Christmas Celebration will be December 8 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm with the Christmas Parade starting at 1:00 pm. All events will be free.
