Schenectady set to show some love to its small businesses

Small Business Saturday offers communities a chance to show some love to the establishments that serve their local area, and many of its companies will be participating in the celebration.

The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation, Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation, and Capital Region Chamber – Schenectady will be joining forces to help its small businesses showcase all they have to offer. With many of them hosting special sales and other events, it provides an opportunity for people to get a jump start on their holiday shopping.

The organizers of the function noted that they are encouraging their membership to make plans for in-store specials and other discounts, as well as contests and other activities to attract both new and current customers. The goal is to help people in the local area see just how much there is for them right in their own home community when it comes to shopping, dining out, or just having a fun time.

This will be the fifth year that the area has chosen to mark Small Business Saturday, and a full listing of participating establishments will be released at a later date. Print shops can prepare postcards, flyers, and other items that can be mailed to all local households to make them aware that this sort of event is taking place.

The date for this year’s celebration of Schenectady’s small business community will be November 24. Its Facebook page has been updated to include the latest details.
