Taste of Medina County a success

The United Way of Medina County recently held its 28th Taste of Medina County event, an annual fundraiser for the organization.

Over 200 people enjoyed dishes from sushi to Bananas Foster, served by some of the area’s leading restaurants.

The event was held at the Weymouth Country Club, where small plates were served. Among the restaurants and food choices were lobster mac and cheese provided by Corkscrew Station, and dates stuffed with chorizo, courtesy of 17 Public Square. Senior culinary students who are attending classes at the Medina County Career Center served pot roast accompanied by smoked cheddar pierogis.

Other establishments taking part were the Weymouth Country Club, Westfield Country Club, Thyme 2, Serenite Restaurant & Culinary Institute, The Granite Grill, The Galaxy, Rustic Hills Country Club, Rito’s Bakery, Circle on the Square, A Cupcake a Day, and 111 Bistro. Organizers of events like this could use brochure printing to describe each participating restaurant.

The tasty evening raised almost $40,000 for United Way, which the organization will use to create programs that benefits families, children, and adults who live in Medina County.

The United Way of Medina County’s executive director, Cheryl Parzych, said sampling all the dishes was only part of the evening’s fun. The other part was encouraging people to learn about United Way and what it does. This year, the organization raised enough money to create an additional program.
