The city of Tomball recently promoted Kristin Kelly from Accounting Assistant to Accountant in the Finance Department.

Kelly has been working in the department since August 2013, paying all the invoices for the city by processing accounts payable. She is a graduate of Klein Oak High School and, prior to working for the city, spent several years in the private sector working for a health management company in its accounting division.

Glenn Windsor, Finance Director, said that Kelly will be an asset to the Finance Department as an accountant. In this position, she will be responsible for general accounting and reporting assignments, and will contribute to the annual budget of the city for 2019-2020.

Windsor added that with her five years’ experience working for the city, Kelly has an excellent knowledge of all the other departments in the city, their expenses, the account structure used for the city’s accounting system, and funds that contribute to the budget. She is also familiar with the city’s vendors, as well as the controls that are in place that serve to protect the resources of the city, such as approval steps needed to process a receipt or payment.

Techniques like business card printing are often used for such promotions when people’s employment titles change and they are given new responsibilities and goals.
