Fort Lauderdale asked to help put a smile on a child’s face

October 9, 2018 by

Last year, a Fort Lauderdale area event was able to raise more than $50,000 for Broward Children’s Center, and its organizers are hoping that this year’s fundraiser will prove to be just as successful.

Whether they would prefer to walk, run, or roll along the route that has been chosen for the 2018 Miles for Smiles fundraiser using an assistive device, everyone who is interested in being a part of the occasion is welcome. The monies raised will be used to provide care and other support for young adults, children, and infants in the area who have complex medical needs.

Those who register for the activity are asked to arrive at the staging area, which will be situated in Pompano Community Park. The check-in will open at 8:00 am, and at 8:45 am, there will be a series of warm-ups before the crowd heads out at 9:00 am.

The plan for the day is for the fun to keep on going even after the race is over. Awards will be presented, and there will also be food, a raffle, a vendor fair, and activities for the whole family. A company that crafts corporate gifts can be counted upon to design medals and other awards for the top finishers in an event like this.

The date for this year’s Miles for Smiles fundraiser will be November 3. Anyone who is interested in learning more has been asked to contact myrnam@bcckids.org.
