Workshop on offer for Carlsbad’s military families

Being in a military family can sometime prove to be tough, and a Carlsbad area workshop has been planned that can help to make life a little bit easier for families of Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton.

Those who participate in the ‘L.I.N.K.S. for Spouses’ session will walk away with a greater understanding of the base, as well as helpful information for working with the Chain of Command. There is no charge to sit in on the daylong event, and each attendee will receive a certificate that indicates they have participated. This is a requirement for anyone who plans on volunteering with their spouse’s command or other programming offered at the base.

The workshop will address an assortment of issues faced by military families, ranging from deciphering abbreviations and jargon-busting, to why there are morning traffic jams and how to avoid them. The group can ask questions and share their own helpful tips, and there will also be time for the assembled participants to meet and get to know one another.

The planners of this activity remarked that it is intended to be both fun and informative. Local print shops can prepare welcome packages and other materials to distribute during this sort of event. These can help the recipient to learn more about their community so they can settle in and start putting down roots.

This event, which will be hosted by Marine and Family Programs, will be held at Bldg. 202860 on San Jacinto Road in Oceanside. The date for the session has been set as November 15.
