College near Coopersburg welcomes new Mediterranean eatery

Just in time for the new academic year, Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh opened at the end of August about nine miles from Coopersburg, serving fresh pitas, wraps, salads, main entrees, and flatbreads.

Located at Haupert Union Building at Moravian College, the restaurant has a bakery area where customers can view their pita being kneaded and baked in the oven. Aesthetically, it has brightly colored walls and a simple design.

David Handler, head of marketing for the chain, notes that the food does not use preservative and MSG, and this new location hopes to serve the not only students, but also those in the community surrounding it. The restaurant caters to both adults and children.

All dishes at the restaurant are custom-made, with the customer choosing the ingredients they want to use from the menu. Printing services in Coopersburg design menus for restaurants like, often using their graphic design staff.

Customers at the restaurant begin by choosing an entrée and choice of protein, including chicken, steak, falafel, or Portobello mushrooms. Steak or chicken kabobs are available too.

On their entrees, customers add other ingredients like vegetables, beans, rice, and special sauces. Every order can be paired with sides dishes and soft drinks.

Complete with indoor and outdoor seating, the restaurant is open Monday through Friday, and is the chain’s first foray into Pennsylvania
