Communities Foundation of Texas is holding its annual a North Texas Giving Day this month.

Coming up in just a few days, the event is in conjunction with Downtown Third Thursday. This will be a chance for Mansfield residents to meet over 20 of their local nonprofits while enjoying family games and activities.

The Mansfield Commission for the Arts will present local bands and Mansfield Independent School District students will be giving performances. Blaine Mitchell of ‘The Voice’ will be taking the stage as well. Dr. Kate Jones will be giving a free solo double bass recital at the Farr Best Theater.

Food trucks will be onsite. Information booths from organizations such as Allies in Youth Development, Kiwanis International, and other nonprofits will be passing out business cards and flyers.

Many volunteer and fundraising events are taking place throughout northern Texas over a 10-day period. Pledges are being made up to the event day and many employees of small and medium companies are volunteering at nonprofits on Freedom Day, which is tomorrow, September 15. Former First Lady Laura Bush is the event’s first honorary chair. The culminating nine events, including the one in the town, will take place on September 20.

Mansfield’s North Texas Giving Day is scheduled for next Thursday, September 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Lot Downtown, 110 South Main Street. Kate Jones’ recital will be from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. The Farr Best Theater is located at 109 N. Main Street.
