Ferris wheel calls in at Cincinnati

September 11, 2018 by

SkyStar, a Ferris wheel that towers 15 stories into the sky, is now open in Cincinnati for a limited time. The wheel is portable, and has been erected in Cincinnati to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Banks.

SkyStar has been on the move throughout the United States, and was set up in such cities as Louisville, Kentucky and Norfolk, Virginia. The wheel is explained as a tourism pop-up experience not unlike the pop-up shops that appear at the holidays, but one people can ride. It will offer those who take the trip exciting views of the city, the river, and The Banks area.

Officials of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber of Commerce say they hope SkyStar will draw between 30,000 and 50,000 riders, who might become interested in leasing premises in The Banks.

SkyStar has 36 climate-controlled, enclosed gondolas, each of which has room for as many as six passengers. The ride is approximately 12 minutes long, during which time the wheel revolves four times. Unusual installations such as this offer companies an opportunity to offer rides as truly intriguing corporate gifts.

The hours of operation of the SkyStar are from 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm Mondays through Thursdays; noon until midnight Fridays; 10:00 am until midnight on Saturdays; and from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm on Sundays. Tickets are $12.50, and SkyStar will only be in Cincinnati until December 2.
