Piedmont Professional Coders will be presenting the fifth annual Piedmont Healthcare Symposium ‘Lucky #5’ this month.

The Piedmont Professional Coders of the AAPC Winston-Salem Chapter are the Local Chapter of the Year. Featured speakers will include Dr. Daren Warhol on screening colonoscopies, Dr. Catherine Matthews on procedures for incontinence, Dr. Chris Craig on treating burns, Dr. Cyndi Mastroperi on cardiovascular bleeding control, and Dr. Beck McCallister on the lumbar system. This event has a colorful logo design that includes dice and two playing cards.

The Piedmont Professional Coders is a non-profit organization. It was established in 1988 to provide continuing education and certification to physician-based medical coders. It has since extended its training to include credentials in coding audits.

The Piedmont Symposium is scheduled for Saturday, September 22 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Registration, vendor sales, and breakfast begin at 7:15am, and lunch will be provided as well. It adds up to a total of eight and a half hours of education, prizes, and networking, and is also a chance for local medical personnel to earn 7.0 hours of credited CEUs (continuing education units).

The event is open to the first 200 registrants. Tickets are $89.00 with a $4.61 fee and can be purchased through Eventbrite. Those who are interested in staying in the Quality Inn near the Forsyth Medical Center can call 877-424-6423.
