Last Hotel to open with new restaurant and bar on premises

When the Last Hotel opens in St. Louis, it will take over the former International Shoe Company premises, which have been renovated. The hotel is a project by Fe Equus Development of Milwaukee.

The hotel is located on Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis, and is 10 stories tall with 144 rooms. The $54m renovation includes a rooftop lounge and bar, a restaurant and bar in the hotel proper, and event and meeting spaces totaling 6,000 square feet.

There will also be a business center, fitness center, and two ballrooms that total 15,000 square feet when combined. The renovation included the restoration of the original bronze light fixtures, column capitals, and terrazzo and marble floors. Trust Hospitality, a company based in Florida, will operate the hotel. Management of businesses such as this have a chance to consider a new logo design before the opening.

Tim Dixon is the developer and owner of the hotel, and says he has fallen in love with St. Louis. He wants the hotel to reflect his passion for the city and its history, as well as its future. Part of that future is the expertise of Chef Evelyn Swoboda, who will be in charge of the Kitchen & Bar, and plans to offer made-from-scratch items. She and Dixon plan a tour of five cities on the Mississippi River to hunt for inspiration.

The Last Hotel will open in the spring of 2019.
