Bellerose goes to the fair

September 3, 2018 by

From corn husking and pie eating contests and pig races, to carnival rides, midway games and hayrides, the 36th Annual Queens County Fair is coming soon.

The two-day event will be an old-fashioned county fair with blue ribbons for produce, arts and crafts, home crafts, and livestock.

Acrobats and jugglers will be entertaining the children in the kids’ area and the Shannon Breeze Irish Band and the Spitzbuam German Band will be entertaining the adults in the Beer Garden.

Worms will be adopted out to Bellerose home compost bins at the ConEdison Ecology booth. The booth will also give out recycling and gardening tips and offer free crafts to the children.

The Main Stage will feature the Savannah Sky Country Band that will be followed by the Something Special Big Band. There will be medieval combat and colonial cooking demonstrations too.

The historic Adriance Farmhouse will be open, and guests can also meander through the Amazing Maize Maze, which along with the petting zoo and hayrides will need tickets.

Crafters and food vendors will be selling their wares throughout the grounds. Crafters at events like this usually have some business cards with them so prospective clients can get in contact with them at a later date for custom work.

The Queens County Fair will be at the Queens County Farm Museum at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Floral Park from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23.
