Williston Day on the way

September 2, 2018 by

This year is the 40th time the Williston Day Street Fair will be celebrated, and the preparations are already underway to make certain everyone will have a great time.

The Williston Chamber of Commerce, which works with people in the ‘Willistons’, including Williston Park and East Williston, is sponsoring the event. Thousands of people come to the fair every year, making it the biggest event held in the village.

There will be more than 200 participants, including both local merchants, and vendors from outside the community. All kinds of family-friendly events are planned, including a hula-hoop contest, karate demonstrations, a petting zoo, pony rides, and face painting. Dancers will perform, and there will be live music courtesy of rock bands. There are rides suitable for children, and loads of great fair-style food.

The fair also gives local non-profit organizations a chance to do some fundraising, as they explain their mission to others in the community. Organizations taking part in events like this can use promotional products in their outreach efforts, helping to identify themselves and their mission.

This year’s fair is set for September 16, on Hillside Avenue in Williston Park, at the section running from Willis Avenue to the Long Island Rail Road tracks. The fun begins at 11:00 am and goes through 5:00 pm, and admission is free. If it rains on the day, the event will be moved to September 23.
