Coral Springs pays respects with 5K

The City of Coral Springs and Northwest Regional Friends of the Library will be holding their annual 5K Remembrance – a race to commemorate 9/11. The race will be family-friendly and teams are encouraged to participate.

Registration is $40 for adults, $15 for students ages 19 and under, and $20 for Emergency Service personnel. All preregistered finishers will get tee shirts sporting the event’s graphic design and medals.

The top three female and male finishers in each of 15 age categories, as well as the top three overall female and male finishers will receive awards. Awards will also be given to the fastest law enforcement, rescue, and EMT paramedic departments, and to those that bring the most members. There will be an award for the club having the most runners too.

Vendors will be at the finishing line with food and merchandise to keep the party going. These will include Jimmy John’s Sandwiches, Nutrishop Coral Spring,s and Springs Fitness.

The Coral Springs 5K Remembrance race is scheduled for next Saturday, September 8 from 7:00 to 10:00 am at the Northwest Regional Library 3151 N. University Drive, which is at the corner of University Drive and Sample Drive.

Packets and last-minute registration can be picked up at the library from 6:00 am until 7:00 am on race day. Proceeds will go to the Southeast Police Motorcycle Rodeo.
