Sioux Falls Paramedics Plus employee honored

Monte Mathews, operations supervisor for Paramedics Plus in Sioux Falls, was recently awarded the Stars of Life award by the American Ambulance Association, which recognizes superior dedication and service of professionals in the ambulance service.

Mathews was recognized for the positive impact he has made on fellow employees, patients, and the community at large. For example, Mathews recently supervised the installation of a new dispatch system. The system is aided by computers that enable dispatchers to provide traffic updates to crews in real time, helping them get to the scene of an emergency more quickly. New technology for the use of crews who are finishing patient reports is also part of the system, and Mathews helped train employees on the technology.

Paramedics Plus’s COO, Michael Bureau, said Mathews plays a major part in keeping the company running smoothly, and in providing support to the crews, and he’s delighted he’s been recognized by the American Ambulance Association. Officers whose employees are honored in this fashion might consider presenting them with corporate gifts to mark the occasion.

Mathews has pursued a career in the emergency medical services (EMS) field for 14 years. Before joining Sioux Falls’ Paramedics Plus organization, he was a firefighter and paramedic in South Dakota and Iowa. In addition to his work with Paramedics Plus, Mathews is an adjunct for The School of EMS, located in Sioux Falls.
