Lebanon gets healthy

Lebanon residents recently had a chance to take part in the Healthy Living Market, where they participated in classes and worked out in downtown Lebanon’s Mulberry Street.

The day started with a 45-minute workout courtesy of Messer Fit, a physical training facility located in Lebanon. Next up was another 45-minute session, this time a yoga class courtesy of the Green Lotus. The focus of this class was on poses, as participants relaxed both mind and body.

The final 45-minute offering was a tai-chi class to help improve coordination and balance. The session was led by Larry Bobbert, from the YMCA.

There were lots of activities and things to do—including visiting vendors—if people didn’t want to participate in a class. Games included a wipe out game, an obstacle course, and an inflatable obstacle course known as the Big Baller.

Vendors at the farmers’ market offered seasonings, herbs, health foods, non-toxic cleaners, and organic cosmetics and skincare products, among others. The Big Greek Mobile kitchen was there with tasty food, while Joe’s Mojo Coffee & Smoothies provided drinks.

Attendees could also be screened for blood pressure issues, and experts provided information on physical therapy, primary care, stress reduction and financial wellness, among other subjects. Information was also available on safety subjects including traffic safety and CPR/first aid. There was something for everyone, dealing with many different aspects of health, giving vendors an opportunity to distribute their business cards.
