The 28th Annual Chalk it Up Festival will be here in September. Over 60,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event. The Sacramento community is invited to enjoy the individual chalk art masterpieces, public art and live music at this regional event.

Local volunteer artists will be creating hundreds of chalk paintings on the sidewalks around the square. Artists will begin their masterpieces on the first day and passers-by will be able to watch their progress. People’s Choice Awards will be given out on the last day.

All attendees will be invited to add their own chalk drawings on the interior sidewalks. Guests can bring their own chalk or purchase them in the merchandise tent. Other crafts, games and activities will be available in the Create-a-Zone.

More than 75 artists and crafters will have booths at the venue with items for purchase. Attendees will be seeking out business cards from their favorite artists and crafts people for later custom work. There will be about two dozen food vendors onsite also.

Twenty-four music artists will perform over the three days. Saturday’s line-up includes Caliscope, the Langoleers, Kennedy Wrose and Lauren Wakefield. Sunday fans will be treated to performances by the Brodys, the Sactown Playboys and Humble Wolf. Monday will have Peter Petty, Jessica Malone, Skyler’s Pool and Blue Oaks among others.

Chalk It Up Sacramento will be over Labor Day Weekend, September 1st through the 3rd at 16th and Q Streets in Fremont Park.
