Middletown run and walk to honor Connecticut heroes

August 20, 2018 by

A special event is on the way for Middletown that will give members of the public a chance to show their support for current military members while also honoring the fallen.

Run for the Fallen is and annual occasion that is open to anyone. It will see participants run 65 km in a series of eight laps that will both begin and end at Veterans Memorial Park.

As the walk or run along the course, the participants in this memorial event will have an opportunity to learn more about residents of the state who have lost their lives in post 9/11 conflicts. Gold Star families have been invited to join in the occasion as guests of honor, and the runner and walkers will be invited to pay their respects.

This activity will not be a timed one, and participants can choose to register to run as many laps as they wish. A police escort will be on hand to aid anyone who can’t keep the pace and who needs a break, and water stations will be set up to help keep the group hydrated. A walking track will also be available for those who prefer to walk or who will not be able to keep the pace. A local printing services provider can design and supply t-shirts and other materials for an event like this.

This opportunity for the public to honor some of the state’s heroes will be held on September 15th. The event will open at 6:00 am.
