Madison goes to taste fest

Taste of Madison, a 35-year Madison tradition, will be returning early in September. Over 250,000 people are expected to attend the two-day event featuring over 80 restaurants, 27 beverage stands and live entertainment on three stages.

Although admission and entertainment will be free the Taste of Madison usually raises around $60,000 for local charities and non-profits.

The 6-ounces-or -less food items will be priced between $1 and $5. Smoothies may be up to 12 ounces.

A panel of fifty judges will pick “Best of” winners before the event starts. The “Best of Taste” restaurant winner will be chosen by the public.

The three stages will have over 35 live music performances. The Q106 on Wisconsin Avenue will include Wheelhouse, Jordan Davis, Tyler Rick Brandon Lay, Ashley McBryde and Madison County. Solid Rock 94.1 JJO at MLK Jr. Blvd will feature, The Foo Foo Dolls, Black Moods, Wayland, Fozzy and Bobaflex. 93.1 JAMZ at W Washington Avenue will have Lout Luxury and Aya and Teo plus others.

New this year will be Lambeau Field Live. Fans will be treated to Play 60 activities, meet alumni such as Gary Ellerson and Mark Murphy, visit the Lambeau Wall, and view a Patrick Cudahy virtual-reality display. Little ones will want to have their pictures taken with their favorite players for potentially poster printing or framing later.

Taste of Madison will be September 1st from 2 pm until 8:30 and September 2nd from 11 am until 7 pm at Capitol Square.
