Endicott College dean named to prestigious leadership group

August 16, 2018 by

The Deans for Impact recently named Dean Sara Quay of Endicott College in Beverly as a member.

Deans for Impact is a network of leaders whose goal is to change the preparation of those entering the field of education. Quay is head of Endicott’s School of Education.

Eight new members were announced, including Quay, so that total membership is now at 22 leaders. They work together to design programming and advise over 130 additional leaders and 27,000 candidates for teaching.

Quay believes that the teacher preparation system in this country needs improvement. There are close to 200,000 new teachers that graduate from programs that prepare them to teach, yet they often feel they are not ready to teach in a classroom of their own. Quay added that she now has an opportunity to collaborate with a network of leaders, share best practices, and be innovative in improving teacher preparation programs. She commented:

“The organization is truly a game changer.”

Founder and executive director of Deans for Impact, Benjamin Riley, said that this is a selective group looking to create change across the entire system. The group works to empower leaders to ensure that every student is taught by a teacher who is well prepared.

Various kinds of printing services can be used to create materials with more information about such endeavors that can transform the teacher preparation process.
